Evaluation of Continuity Sequence
This is an evaluation of our continuity sequence that is shown underneath, in our footage we have Danielle Hopkins (who has now dropped media studies as a subject) as the main character, Beca Smith and I also star in the sequence. We would all decide as a group what shots to film, then Stevie Anthony, who was in charge of filming, set up the camera and filmed each needed shot. I really enjoyed the whole experience of deciding what to do in our sequence, the actual filming, editing and even acting in the sequence. The whole point of the Continuity Sequence was a trial to see how a camera works, how to do different shots etc.. We got a real feel for filming and editing so when it comes to our Thriller Opening we know exactly what to do. We found it surprising how much footage we filmed compared to how much footage we actually used, editing at first was quite tricking, but once we got the hang of editing, it was easy. Our sequence includes extreme close ups of Dani's face, phone and door handle, we use shot reverse shot, two people shots, long shots and establishing shots. We use speech and a phones ring tone also. If we redid the Continuity Sequence I think we would make sure we had a lot more shots to play with and we would make sure we didn't break the 180 degree rule. At the beginning of the sequence our edits are a bit to quick, quick edits are good for action sequences but not for our continuity footage, however this is not a major problem. My favourite shots are the close ups of Dani texting and the close up of her opening the door. We have learnt a lot from doing this film and we now have a good understanding and knowledge of what to do when it comes to our Thriller Opening.
