Other opening sequences similar to ours.

Our opening sequence is based around a stalker, looking at two other film openings I can see what is similar and what relates to our own opening.

One of the films I looked at was Gregory's Girl, although this is not a thriller but a comedy the film starts with a stalker. A group of boys stand in the shadows outside, what looks like, halls of residents, they are looking into the window of one girls room watching her get undressed. Looking at the shot reverse shots of the boys and then the girl in the window and the close ups they use we can see how to use things like this in our own film. This opening scene takes place at night, like ours and this gives a creepier feel to the film, even though it is a comedy. This film is not about stalkers but voyeurs. The films starts with....



The other film opening I analysised was Cape Fear. This was a thriller film about a convicted rapist who is released from prison after 14 years and stalks the family of the lawyer that convicted him. The film starts with....

We looked at Jamendo to look at music to use in our thriller film, this is a screen shot of the website and a possible choice of music we might use.

Week 11

We have looked at all the shots we filmed last week and have successfully edited them all together to make a smooth running opening sequence, we are all very proud of our film. It took a lot of time and effort but we are hopeful for a good grade. Next we will look at effects we can put in and also add credits where needed.

The opening sequence starts with a P.O.V/O.T.S shot of Jake looking at Stevie's house, cut edit to Stevie inside,  there are cut edits between Jake walking up to the house and into the house with Stevie going upstairs to her room and putting headphones on, Jake walks up the stairs and into Stevie's room. The last scene we are currently undecided, we wondered whether we could use a webcam on a laptop to film from. We start filming this Thursday. (17.11.11)

Week 9

After filming the majority of our opening sequence last Thursday we have realised that our opening sequence was too ambitious to portray on film, we took some good shots but the overall film was a let down. We are going to start again with a new, simpler idea. I am glad that we got to film our first idea and got to realise how it didn't work when we came to edit. We are not disheartened though as we already have a new narrative idea and are already producing a new shot list.

Thriller Opening Sequence Script.

DESIRE

SCENE 1:

Black fades to a door, (CU). Hannah walks in slowly and slams door(MS) (sound is diegetic)

FASHBACK - Stevie & Jake walking/sitting being watched by Hannah. (Non-diegetic sound, creepy music)

CUT BACK TO KITCHEN

SCENE 2:

Hannah walks in, (only sound heard is Hannah’s heals, diegetic, MS) walks down kitchen to a table, PAN table, lingering on each object;

Flashbacks stop. Hannah stands with the candle between her and Jake; as if she’s going to kiss him she blows the candle out in his face.

Week 8

This week we have arranged and bought the props for our filming which we will begin on Thursday (3.11.11) we have also created a script and finished the story board, once we've done some filming we can start to edit and see what footage we have to play with, Media is a really enjoyable subject and I can't wait to start filming properly!
UPDATE
Filming will take place in my kitchen, Stevie Jake and I will be acting in the film and Beca will do the filming, we've also chosen to name our film 'Desire' we think this fits with our chosen storyline.
